Brief History Of Philomath University Abuja
The name Philomath is derived from two Greek words; “PHILOS” meaning “Passion” and “MATH” meaning “learning”. Philomath, therefore means Passion for Learning.
Philomath University is designed to inspire students with a strong desire to learn while achieving excellence and world-class results. The University is motivated by a love for quality in education as well as an uninhibited desire to bring about a scientific, technological, and industrial revolution that is unique in the world, as well as progress in Africa, particularly in Nigeria.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) licensed the University on April 8, 2021, and it began operations with two faculties: Faculty of Management and Social Sciences and Faculty of Law for the 2021/2022 Academic Session. Today, we are expanding with a new campus in Maitama and two new faculties: the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and the Faculty of Computing Sciences.

The Admission requirements are:
1. All participants are required to sit for the current Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and pick Philomath University as their First Choice of Institution.
2. All applicants are required to have credits at SSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB or approved equivalent in at least five (5) subjects, which must include English Language and four (4) other subjects as may be specified by each Faculty.
3. The five credits should be obtained in not more than two sittings.
